Privacy Policy — Putnam Locals

Putnam Locals (putnamlocals.com) is an independent directory of local businesses in Putnam County, Florida, run by Ancient City Associates LLC in Palatka, Florida ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email [email protected].

What we collect

Information you give us

Quote requests: your name, phone and/or email, your town, and the details of the job you describe.
Listing requests and claims: your name, email, phone, and information about your business.
Newsletter: your email address.
Website chat ("Ask Putnam Locals"): the messages you type, and any name, phone number, or email you choose to share. The chat is answered by an AI assistant.
Owner dashboard: the email you sign in with, the changes you make to your listing, and, for paid plans, billing details handled by our payment processor (we never see or store your full card number).

Information collected automatically

The pages you visit and clicks on a listing's call, website, directions, or email buttons, so we can show business owners how their listing performs.
A random visitor ID saved in your browser's local storage, which links your visits together without identifying you by name.
Google Analytics cookies and similar technology that measure how the site is used.
Basic technical information such as your browser type and IP address, which our hosting and bot-protection services process to deliver the site and stop spam.

How we use it

To send your quote request to local businesses, and to check that you heard back.
To add, verify, and update business listings, and to run paid listing plans.
To answer your questions in the chat and, when you ask for a person, to have our team follow up.
To send the newsletter you signed up for. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
To measure traffic, improve the directory, and show owners their listing's views and calls.
To prevent spam, abuse, and fraud.

Who we share it with

Businesses you contact through us. A quote request goes to up to 3 local businesses in the trade you choose, or only to the business whose page you used. They contact you directly.
Service providers that run the site for us, only for that purpose: Cloudflare (hosting and bot protection), Site Base (our customer and listing management system), Google Analytics (site statistics), Stripe (payments), our email delivery providers, and Anthropic (the AI that answers the website chat).
When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users, the businesses listed, or us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we don't add you to mailing lists you didn't sign up for.

The website chat

The chat is an automated AI assistant, not a person, and it can make mistakes. We save chats so we can follow up and improve our answers. Chats where you didn't share any contact details are deleted after 90 days. Please don't type sensitive information such as card numbers or Social Security numbers into the chat.

How long we keep it

We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Quote requests, listing records, and owner accounts are kept while they're useful for running the directory, or until you ask us to delete them, unless we need to keep something to meet a legal obligation.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue.
Ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing [email protected].
Block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings. The directory still works without them.

Children

Putnam Locals is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections and restricted access, to protect your information. No website can guarantee perfect security.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
